Analytical Spectral Devices, Inc. Launches FieldSpectroscopy.com — A Resource Blog for the Remote Sensing and Field Spectroscopy Community
      January 24, 2006

Analytical Spectral Devices, Inc. (ASD), the world leader in field portable spectroradiometers announces the launch of FieldSpectroscopy.com, the most comprehensive resource available on the web for relevant information related to remote sensing and field spectroscopy. The site offers numerous links to white papers, organizations, journals, funding sources, and the most inclusive calendar of earth sciences conferences available world-wide. “The site is a veritable clearing house of information relevant to field spectroscopy users from a variety of disciplines,” said Dr. Alexander Goetz, Center for the Study of Earth from Space, University of Colorado.

Field Spectroscopy.com is sponsored by ASD for the remote sensing and field spectroscopy community at large. Dr. Brian Curtiss, ASD’s Chief Technology Officer and renowned expert in field spectroscopy says “It is intended as a comprehensive resource and forum for field spectroscopy users of all levels and disciplines. The goal is to make the site the most inclusive source of relevant information available through links to organizations, journals, white papers and abstracts, conferences world wide, funding resources, and much more. We continually update the information and links as we come across new information.”

Dr. Curtiss went on to say “the site also offers a discussion forum to facilitate an exchange of information, ideas, techniques, and whatever else spectroscopy users find relevant, as well as a place to pose application and technical questions.” While the site is moderated by ASD personnel, it is for the purpose of providing access to recognized experts in the field, not to censor or control the information. All ASD personnel are clearly identified. In addition to ASD expert personnel, the site’s membership includes other renowned practitioners around the world.

Information on the general site and links sections is open to anyone interested, though registration is required to post comments or participate in the forum. Anyone with questions, concerns, or information relevant to this site is encouraged to contact us at blog@asdi.com. Registered visitors to the site are also encouraged to post questions or comments in the discussion forum.
