ASD introduced the world’s first portable spectroradiometer to the market in 1990. The FieldSpec HandHeld 2 is now the premier portable spectroradiometer for agriculture, forestry, mining and oceanography. Using ASD’s cutting-edge, near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to instantly and nondestructively measure samples, the HandHeld 2 further revolutionizes onsite measurement by providing extremely precise, quickly derived data in a variety of settings. Among other improvements, the HandHeld 2 eliminates the need for continuous attachment to a computer through the addition of an on-board display and enhanced computing power.

Both the HandHeld 2 and HandHeld 2 Pro feature integrated color display screens, and built-in DriftLock™ shutter for accurate dark current compensation and faster scan times. The ruggedized unit weighs less than three pounds, measures 215x139x88 mm, and uses rechargeable AA batteries.
The HandHeld 2 instruments measure in a wavelength range of 325 – 1075 nm with a resolution of <3.5 nm at 700 nm. The Pro model yields scan and data collection rates that are three times faster than the standard model, using a high-sensitivity 512-element photo-diode array spectroradiometer.
