ASD Inc., a world leader in near-infrared instrumentation, seeks a Field Service / Training Specialist.

Summary: This high impact position provides training, oversight, and field installation for ASD’s distributor network and industrial customers.

  • The person selected for this position will provide training in both operation and maintenance of ASD industrial and process instruments.
  • The incumbent will provide training, oversight and periodic quality audits for ASD worldwide distributors.
  • The person in this position will also perform instrument installation for ASD process instruments.
  • As ASD’s field service business grows, this person is expected to assume greater responsibility by adding additional people and management responsibility to the position description.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% travel with a significant portion as international.

Performance Criteria:

  • Coordinate installation of ASD’s process instrumentation with the end customer, arranging for functional services such as millwrights and electricians either provided by the customer or through outside services at the customers location.
  • Through physical presence direct/perform the installation and commissioning of ASD process instrumentation at the customer site. Train customer personnel in the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of ASD instrumentation during the installation.
  • Provide training to selected worldwide distributors for repair and calibration of ASD instruments.
  • Set up and maintain a reporting system for monitoring distributors service performance and instrument status.
  • Establish the skills for this position by performing quality control testing and calibration for both new production instruments and repairs.
  • Create technical repair manuals, guides and other documentation for end customers and/or worldwide distributors.
  • The selected person should expect a minimum of 50% travel, with a significant international component.
  • Contribute to improvement in ASD instrument performance by communicating customer issues, concerns or ideas to the appropriate individuals at ASD.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of effective professional working relationships with all other ASD contacts (internal and external).
  • Compile and maintain equipment and tools necessary to execute the requirements of this position.
  • Perform any other tasks or duties that may be required.

Qualifications:

  • 3 – 7 years Field Service in the process industry is required.
  • Minimum education requirements are Bachelor of Engineering Technology. Emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology is preferred.
  • Language Fluency is strongly preferred, especially Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  • Process control and instrumentation background is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting computer based instrumentation.
