What is Signal-to-noise ratio (S/N or SNR)?
ANSWER:
Ratio of the radiance measured to the root-mean-square (RMS) noise created by the detector and associated electronics. Parameters such as reflectance, sun angle and others affecting the signal must be defined to make the value meaningful (also see Noise-equivalent-radiance). Standard built-in spectrum averaging function allows up to 31,800 spectra to be averaged thereby reducing the noise and increasing signal-to-noise.
