Dr. Alexander F. H. Goetz — Co-founder, Chief Scientist, Chairman.

Dr. Goetz is a world-renowned remote sensing earth science authority. In addition to co-founding ASD, he was a full professor from 1986 through 2006 at the University of Colorado in Boulder as well as the founder and Director of the Center for the Study of Earth from Space. He has received numerous awards from NASA, published over 200 papers in the fields of spectroscopy and environmental applications, and holds 11 patents. He earned his BS, MS, and Ph.D at the California Institute of Technology.

 

 

David Rzasa — CEO and President

Mr. Rzasa has over 30 years experience in public and private technology and manufacturing companies. Since 2000 he has been the CEO and President of ASD Inc. Prior to ASD, Mr. Rzasa spent 17 years with Emerson Electric (EMR) in the Process Control Group (formerly Rosemount Inc.) in a number of multi-national senior executive positions including President of Rosemount Analytical Inc., and Group General Manager for Europe. Other executive positions Mr. Rzasa has held include Chief Operating Officer of a NYSE company, and Senior VP and GM positions at two NASDAQ listed technology companies.

Besides serving on ASD’s board of directors, Mr. Rzasa serves on the Board of the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship for the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. 

He earned his BS in electrical engineering from Ohio State University and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He holds a Certificate of Director Education from the NACD Corporate Directors Institute. Mr. Rzasa also holds three patents.

 

Dr. Brian Curtiss — Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer.

Dr. Curtiss is a recognized expert in remote sensing earth science technology with over 20 years experience in the field. He has been a technical consultant to National Geographic, has co-authored numerous papers, and holds four patents. Dr. Curtiss was also an active member of the FDA’s Chemometric Working Group of the Process Analytical Technologies Subcommittee for the Advisory Committee for the Pharmaceutical Sciences. His BA is from Washington University and his MA and Ph.D are from the University of Washington.

 

 

Tom Brown — Vice President, Sales and Channel Management. 

Mr. Brown spent 23 years with Perkin-Elmer, a $1.5 billion world leader of analytical instrumentation used in drug discovery, genetic screening, and chemical analysis. He held a number of national, regional and territory sales management positions, advancing to the position of Director of North American Sales and Service. Mr. Brown's other executive experience includes: VP of National Sales and Support at Transgenomic Inc; and Managing VP - RTS Life Sciences. He holds a BS in Biology/Chemistry/Math from the University of Wisconsin, and a Masters Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Washington. 
 

 

Michael Lands — Director of Marketing and Product Management.

Mr. Lands brings a variety of large and small company experience, as well as broad business and technical abilities. Prior to joining ASD, he spent time as an engineer with Nicolet Instrument Corp, Director of Technical Marketing at Stryker Image Guided Technologies, and as Vice President of Operations for Xtrana Inc. Mr. Lands has entrepreneurial experience as well, having started and run his own land development firm for two years. He has a BSME from Northeastern University, and an MBA from the University of Colorado.

 

 

Bob Faus, PE — Vice President of Engineering.

Mr. Faus has over 20 years experience in product design and engineering for commercial, medical, and aerospace industries, including work on the Hubble Space Telescope. He has held positions of Project Manager, Technical Manager, and Design Engineer at Pfizer–Valleylab Inc., Ball Aerospace Corp, and NBI Inc. Mr. Faus holds four patents and a BSEE from Kansas State University.

 

 

 

Robert DuBois — Director of Operations and Quality.

Mr. DuBois has over 20 years experience in manufacturing. His various positions include Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, and Process Engineer with Raychem and FMC Corp. He holds a BS ChE from Colorado State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

 

 

 

 

Laura Jensen, CPA — Controller.

Ms. Jensen has more than 15 years experience in high tech manufacturing companies in various financial and control capacities. She held the controller position at Avalon Imaging Inc., and was the accounting manager at Inovonics, Inc. She has a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado.
