Mining and Ore Properties
Profitable mining operations require knowledge of ore mineralogy, both in mineral mapping for exploration and concentration levels of minerals in ore on the production line. Traditional laboratory based mineral analysis methods are time consuming, expensive, and interrupted by long intervals for sample transport and test processing by highly skilled technicians. By contrast, analysis with near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is fast, economically efficient, continuous throughout exploration and production, and doesn’t require extensive scientific expertise.
ASD’s NIR mineral analyzers have been used in the measurement of geological material for two decades. Our spectrometers provide accurate feedback in real-time, and are capable of measuring hundreds of samples a day at multiple points throughout the mining process. In the field or on the production line, ASD spectrometers provide rapid, accurate mineralogical analysis for optimum mine efficiency. Benefits of ASD’s NIR mineral analyzers include:
- No delays—analysis is real-time
- No special technical expertise required
- Non-contact, non destructive analysis—provides increased testing capacity
- Real-time feedback that moves at the pace of your production system
- Optimized mine operations through more accurate ore property data
- Continuous feedforward or feedback data
- Easy integration with your site’s information and control systems
- Environmentally friendly technique—helps reduce chemical waste while saving energy and decreasing processing time
With the TerraSpec®, QualitySpec®, and LabSpec® lines of spectrometers, mine operators and exploration geologists have all the tools they need to accurately identify and characterize orebodies in a wide variety of settings:
- Surface exploration surveys of large areas of interest
- Remote sensing hyperspectral studies
- Analysis of existing collections
- Drill locations
- High grade ore zone mapping
- Production lines
ASD systems can be configured to accept a wide range of sample types and sizes—including outcrops, hand specimens, core, RC drill chips, metallurgical pulps, and in-process ore analysis over-the-conveyor—all with little or no sample preparation. The easy-to-use NIR spectrometers require no special technical training and can be implemented at a variety of locations in your mine operations.
Optimize your mine operations—improve mine efficiency, increase the volume of quality yield, and realize higher profitability with sophisticated, yet easy-to-use measurement solutions from ASD.
