    • What operating system does the RS3 software use?

The operating software for the FieldSpec® and TerraSpec® instruments is called RS3. RS3 is a Windows® based program, compatible with Windows® 95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, and XP. RS3 enables the user to optimize the FieldSpec and TerraSpec instruments and collect the following data types: Raw DN, Reflectance, and Radiance/Irradiance. All files are collected in an ASD file format that can then be viewed and post-processed in ViewSpec™ Pro.

In order to run RS3 in its most optimal state, the following computer specifications are necessary:

      PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium II 256Mhz

MEMORY: 128 MB RAM recommended, will function with 64 MB RAM (less optimal)

HARD DISK DRIVE: 1 GB with at least 100 MB free.

FLOPPY DISK DRIVE: Type 3.5" 1.44MB

CD-ROM: Type 5.25" Quad speed minimum

DISPLAY: Type TFT Active Matrix Color (800 x 600)

      VIDEO: SVGA Compatible 800 x 600 256 Colors

KEYBOARD: Windows® 95/98, 2000, ME, NT or XP compatible

MOUSE: Windows® 95/98, 2000, ME, NT or XP compatible

EXPANSION PORTS: One 25-Pin Parallel Port (8 bit Bi-directional or EPP). At the present time, standard ASD spectrometer FSFR, NIR, and VNIR software requires LPT1.

SOFTWARE: Windows® 95/98, 2000, ME, NT or XP Operating System. FSFR, NIR, and VNIR Pro requires a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows® 95/98, 2000, ME, NT or XP Operating System including software installation. Refer to your Windows® 95/98, 2000, ME, NT or XP User's Manual. Must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.

INTERFACE CABLE: FSFR, NIR, and Vnir models - IEEE 1284 Compliant Printer Cable, DB 25M to DB25P

GPS INTERFACE: Serial communications port for GPS receiver (USB-Serial Adapter optional); NMEA compatible GPS receiver; connector cable for GPS interface
