ASD is recognized by Inc. Magazine, for second consecutive year, among the country's fastest growing private companies
Inc. Magazine has, once again, included ASD Inc. (formerly Analytical Spectral Devices) among the 5,000 fastest-growing privately held companies in the country. ASD was ranked No. 3893 overall, and 97th in the Top 100 Electronics and Computer Companies list with a three-year sales growth of 76.9%. The list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
For nearly 20 years, ASD Inc. (ASD) has been a global provider of high performance spectroscopy solutions for the measurement of natural resource materials for researchers and industrial markets. “ASD is unsurpassed in addressing some of the most challenging real-world materials measurement problems,” said Dave Rzasa, ASD’s President and CEO. “Our success is the result of our world-class team addressing customer needs in process control and scientific instrument markets. We are very proud of our achievements and continued growth, and it is an honor to be recognized on a national level by Inc. Magazine, especially for two consecutive years.”
“Our second annual Inc. 5000 continues the most ambitious project in business journalism,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. “The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of young, underreported companies across all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth.”
“Currently, ASD instruments are used in more than 1,500 universities, government institutions, and industrial companies world-wide,” said Michael Lands, Director of Marketing and Product Management for ASD. “The growth over the past six years is, to a large degree, due to significant increases in the company’s export business. In 2006 ASD’s export sales were 67%, and in 2007 international sales increased to 79%. The export business has been, and will continue to be, a significant focus point for ASD.”
The 5000 companies that made the list reported aggregate revenue of $185 billion and median three-year growth of 147 percent. Most important, the 2008 Inc. 5000 companies were engines of job growth, having created more than 826,033 jobs since those companies were founded. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and a list of the fastest-growing companies that can be sorted by industry and region can be found at www.inc5000.com.
The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, for profit, independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
