HandHeld 2: Hand-held VNIR Spectroradiometer

The FieldSpec® HandHeld 2 hand-held spectroradiometer is the low-cost, easy to use, visible-near infrared (VNIR) alternative to the full-range FieldSpec 4 product line. The Handheld 2 is a versatile and durable hand-held spectroradiometer that utilizes the FieldSpec 4 VNIR spectrometer for accurate analysis in the 325 – 1075 nm spectral range.

The HandHeld 2 provides the ideal combination of performance, portability, and durability. The HandHeld 2 spectroradiometer employs a high-sensitivity detector array, a low stray light grating, a built-in shutter, DriftLock dark current compensation, and second-order filtering to produce a high signal-to-noise spectrum in under a second.

Field data acquisition is streamlined with embedded remote sensing software. The results are shown on an integrated, high-visibility color display making sample collection simple, in challenging areas without the worry of carrying a computer.

When connected to a computer, the full range of RS3 spectral data processing features is available.

Designed with an ergonomic dual position “D” handle, the hand-held spectroradiometer is equally suited for right or left-hand operation. Compact, rugged and light-weight, the HandHeld 2 weighs 1.17 kg (under three pounds) including batteries.

With a wavelength range of 325 nm – 1075 nm, an accuracy of ±1 nm and a resolution of <3 nm at 700 nm, the HandHeld 2 hand-held spectroradiometer delivers unsurpassed performance and helps expedite fieldwork and reduce errors associated with changing environmental conditions.

The optional GPS accessory records GPS coordinates with each collected spectrum and eliminates the need for external location record keeping.

In addition to being an easy-to-use spectroradiometer, the Handheld 2 can serve as a VNIR-only hand-held spectrometer when used with a fiber optic cable and contact probe accessories.
